"I wanted to share our experiences at Holy Cross with Gradelink. We began using Gradelink at the beginning of our second semester in February 2004. As the administrator of the site, I found the initial data set up to be very easy. Moving around the site was also quite simple. I used a cable modem, and this greatly increased the speed on the site. When forced to use a dial-up, speeds decreased, but I was still able to function with ease. As a teacher I truly appreciated the functions of the site. Since I have some grading rubrics within the majority of my classes that required letter, proportional, and percentage grades, I found this aspect of the site to be my favorite. No longer did I have to determine at the beginning of the grading period what type of grades I would need or be compelled to adjust the grade before inputting into a spreadsheet. The grades on the assignments would be the grades in Gradelink, and parents would be able to see this clearly when comparing the papers to the grade sheet. The ability of the parents to have a daily assessment of their child's progress helped them understand the weights placed on assignments, and they could help their children make choices in preparation. As an eighth grade teacher, I encouraged parents to share the ID and password with their children. Every eighth grader who accessed the system saw the value in those previously deemed "unimportant" daily assignments. They saw the truth of what I told them at the beginning of each quarter, that on that day they were A+ students and strove to maintain that status. As a client of Gradelink I truly valued the responsiveness of the people at the company and their willingness to hear our needs as a customer.
